Meet Kalan
Kalan Haywood II is the State Representative for Wisconsin's 16th Assembly District, serving Milwaukee's central city and downtown neighborhoods since 2019. Elected at 19 years old, he made history as the youngest African American ever elected to state office in Wisconsin. Now serving his fourth term and as Assembly Assistant Minority Leader, Rep. Haywood has spent seven years fighting for affordable housing, economic opportunity, public safety, and voting rights for his constituents. A lifelong Milwaukeean, graduate of Rufus King International High School, and UW-Milwaukee student, he is committed to making government work for everyday people.
